Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) are the only ETB that provides these courses under the Skills to Advance initiative.
SPECIAL PURPOSE AWARD IN FISH FARM TECHNIQUES
The Level 5 Special Purpose Award in Fish Farming Techniques will provide you with all the skills to work in a modern fish farm.
The course entails three modules
- Nutrition and Feed Distribution
- Fish Handling and Sea Lice Screening
- Introduction to Biosecurity
50 HOURS EACH MODULE


AQUACULTURE DIGITAL BADGES
25 HOURS PER BADGE
Shorter separate courses are also available. When successfully completed they lead to the awarding of individual Digital Badges. These Badges are certified by Quality Assurance at GRETB and are recognised by the Aquaculture Industry.

The Special Purpose Award and the Badges are delivered through the Virtual Reality platform and Moodle. The Virtual Reality platform was developed – the first of its kind -within which you can upskill and carry out activities that are routinely carried out on aquaculture sites. Thereafter, you can proceed to actual sea sites and complete tasks.
