Galway and Roscommon LCYP values child safeguarding as a vital component of any work that is carried out involving young people. The GRETB Child Protection Policy outlines the potential risks that staff must be aware of when working with young people and also endorses that the core principle of all work within GRETB is to eradicate any potential for harm to a child or young person availing of our service, as defined in the Children First Act 2015.

Our Child Protection Policy specifies the service we provide and the principles and procedures we observe in order to ensure that a child or young person taking part in LCYP activities is safe from harm. We have set out any potential risk of ‘harm’ and we have procedures in place to reduce identified risks as specified in section 11(3) of the Children First Act 2015. In regards to any instances where the LCYP enters into agreements with third parties, a signed statement of assurance will be sought in advance from third parties which states they are fully compliant with Child Protection obligations as specified in the relevant Child Protection and Safeguarding legislation.

Galway and Roscommon LCYP is fully compliant with the Freedom of Information Acts 1997 and 2003. We operate on a value for money approach and abide by the Public Procurement guidelines. In the management, oversight and compliance related aspects of our work, the expenditure of public funding conforms to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform’s Circular 13/2014. Throughout the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, Galway and Roscommon LCYP operated robust risk management protocols for the health and safety of children and young people.
