Galway and Roscommon ETB provides an administrative, oversight and governance function to 22 Department of Children and Youth Affairs funded Youth Work Services (UBU – Your Place, Your Space Scheme) and over 120 Volunteer Youth Clubs through the Local Youth Club Grant Scheme.
Among its other functions, Section 10 of the Education and Training Board Act 2013, confers a role on us for the provision, coordination, administration and assessment of youth work services in our functional area and the provision of such information as may be requested by the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs in relation to such supports.
Through the work of our Youth Officers and the provision of resources to Youth Work Organisations in the region, we provide a coordinated framework that supports the development of a wide range of initiatives for young people across Galway and Roscommon.
Youth Work Committee
In accordance with Section 44 of the Education & Training Board Act 2013, we established a Youth Work Committee to carry out our legislative functions.
The remit of our Youth Work Committee is to make recommendations to our Board on our performance Section 10 of the Education and Training Board Act 2013 and to support the provision, coordination, administration and assessment of youth work services in our functional area. Youth Work Funding Applications
We oversee Youth Work Services and Volunteer Youth Clubs applications for Department of Children and Youth Affairs funding schemes. These will be published on our website and social media as soon as they accepting applications.
